# Banana Pi R3 SD Card boot issue documentation debugging
## Setup
- flashed [fresh current OpenWrt](https://downloads.openwrt.org/releases/23.05.4/targets/mediatek/filogic/openwrt-23.05.4-mediatek-filogic-bananapi_bpi-r3-sdcard.img.gz) release image on sdcard
- Boot selection switches all up/1, selecting SD Card as boot medium
- USB-Serial connected
- No other devices inserted (no NVME, modem, USB device, etc.)
## Test Hardware
Tests were conducted with two different SD Card types. And from what I can tell two different batches of Bananapi R3 boards.
**Bananapi v1.1 batch 2347**

**Bananapi v1.1 batch 2311**

## Test Combinations
- Two diffentet sdcards
- 1. 2x Sandisk Ultra 32G (most probably genuine)
- 2. 1x Kioxia Exceria 32G
- Two different batches/lots of Bananapi R3
- 1. 2x v1.1 batch 2347
- 2. 3x v1.1 batch 2311
## Test Results
Some combinations fail to boot. Alghough they seem to be not fail completely deterministic.
